The WSUD Audit Guidelines are now available for review industry. The guidelines will assist Councils and authorities  in their efforts to audit and effectively maintain WSUD assets. The guidelines have been prepared by E2Designlab as part of a Stormwater Victoria and Melbourne Water partnership.

The guideline describes how to undertake audits of WSUD assets to determine their condition and identify maintenance and renewal requirements. It also sets out the context within which audits occur.

The guideline describes the following:

  • Why WSUD asset management and audits are important
  • How to undertaken a WSUD asset audit
  • Templates and items to be audited
  • Guidance on interpreting audit outcomes, identifying and prioritising maintenance activities
  • Common maintenance activities• Guidance on developing an asset management framework for WSUD assets
  • Guidance for budgeting of maintenance and renewal works

The audit templates are provided in a spreadsheet format. These may be used by Councils directly, as paper print-outs or used as a basis for configuring an asset management database.

The spreadsheet is set up so that an audit can be undertaken and the items identified stored in a database within the spreadsheet. Similar record keeping templates and a database are provided to record corresponding works arising from the audits.

A calculation of indicative asset priority is undertaken based on user inputs. These take into account values related to the asset as well as the assessed condition.

Potential users are encouraged to trial the guidelines and spreadsheet and provide feedback to Stormwater Victoria and its supporting partners for this project at the following address
