The Stormwater community comprises a diverse range of professional interests and disciplines. The one thing we all have in common is the journey we are all on together. Sustainable stormwater management is an area of growing knowledge and interest and offers integrated and complementary opportunities for traditional water disciplines of supply and sewerage.
As a community of interested people it is important that we support each other, and provide opportunities for positive exchanges of ideas and knowledge to ensure that our common cause is furthered as effectively as possible.
Stormwater Industry Nationally
Stormwater Victoria has its beginnings as part of a broader national network of state based industry associations and is affiliated with the National Stormwater Industry Association. The activities of State based associations reflect the breadth and depth of stormwater management opportunities and highlight core similarities and and local differences based on environmental, governmental and regulatory opportunities. Broadly we are united in our common goal to manage stormwater in a more integrated and sustainable manner.
State based associations can be accessed by following links from the National Stormwater Industry Association's website at http://www.stormwater.asn.au/

Water Sensitive Cities International Study Tour
In April 2009 Stormwater Victoria provided sponsorship support for one of our members to participate in an international study tour to Europe and Singapore to look at sustainable water management practices, broader environmental drivers (such as integrating water and energy management) and community engagement.
The study tour comprised of 15 particplants drawn from cities across Australia and comprising of a range of professional disciplines and backgrounds that is representative of the collaboration required to buidl water sensitive cities of the future.
On their return the tour participants have taken the opportunity to provide feedback on their experiences and insights at a number of stormwater forums; the sustainable management of stormwater the comteext of climate change adaptation and future cities provides an exciting opportunity.
The study tour group will be producing a number of reports aimed at strategic and community audiences.
