Advocacy

Stormwater Victoria through the committee provides an important service in advocating for sustainable stormwater management through submissions to Government inquiries and through invited involvement on a number of working groups and panels set up to advise Government departments.
Through our submissions we continue to raise a number of key issues, advantages and challenges relating to the integrated management of Stormwater.

Key points which we continue to draw attention to include:

  • The multiple benefits of integrated Stormwater management
  • The need for a consistent and comprehensive policy setting to ensure that opportunities to improve urban water management outcomes are not lost;
  • The need for legislative reform to better support Stormwater management outcomes;
  • An ongoing need to recognize and support research, innovation and capacity building in the sustainable management of Stormwater.
