Stormwater Harvesting and Reuse

Environmental Protection and Heritage Council Phase II Australian Guidelines for Water Recycling-Stormwater Harvesting and Reuse

The guidelines are being developed as part of a wider water resource framework and set out to provide guidance and a risk management approach to ensure that Stormwater can be used safely in a variety of fit for purpose settings, and to ensure that the processes are practicable and enabling.

Stormwater Victoria's submission supported the approach taken, but highlighted the need for ongoing research and innovation to be adapted into practice and made recommendations on practical methods for objectively assessing the quality of Stormwater and the levels of risk posed through its use.

 
Alternate Water Sources Regulatory Review

Victorian EPA Alternate Water Sources Regulatory Review - Stormwater

In a parallel process to the Federal Guidelines the Victorian EPA in conjunction with the Department of Human Services was asked to develop an enabling framework for alternate water sources.

Stormwater Victoria participated in a number of working group sessions and provided industry feedback on the practicality of guidelines through the drafting process.

 
Victorian Competition and Efficiency Commission Inquiry into Victoria’s Liveability

The inquiry terms of reference were framed to identify actions and outcomes which were required to ensure that Victoria retained its place as one of the world's most liveable places.

Stormwater Victoria's submission highlighted the important role that Stormwater plays in ensuring that public space can be maintained, waterways are protected and water services are maintained for the benefit of all Victorian communities.
